green protein smoothie

A Healthy Addition To Your Day!

If you’re familiar with me, you know that green smoothies plays a huge role in life and journey to healthy living!

As a middle-aged woman, I feel the effects that food have on my body very quickly – the good and the bad.  I’m always on the lookout for healthy meals that I actually enjoy.  I’ve enjoyed drinking this green protein smoothie for a long time because it fits the bill in both cases.

I love whipping it up for breakfast or as a post-workout meal.  It it SO refreshing and filled with things that make me feel so GOOD and full!

Packed with protein, fiber and antioxidants, it is very nutient-dense and low in calories (total amount around 220!). The fresh ginger adds the perfect kick to it too. What a perfect combination of healthy, filling and, if I do say so, delicious!

All you need are a few simple, wholesome and organic ingredients that can easily be found at your local supermarket along with a protein powder of your choice.  I buy most of my ingredients at Whole Foods.

Green Protein Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • A cup of fresh organic pineapple chunks
  • 1 or 2 handfuls of organic raw spinach or kale (you can add both if you like)
  • 1 teaspoon of fresh grated ginger
  • 3/4 – 1 cup of distilled water
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 serving of vanilla protein powder (Here is a link to what I use:  Biochem Whey Protein Powder)

Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and mix well until very smooth.  That’s it!

Sometimes I add a tablespoon of organic, extra-virgin coconut oil if I feel the need for an extra dose of healthy fat. The great thing about smoothies is that you can add and adjust the ingredients to suit your own personal preference.

So get your blenders out and give this smoothie a try….happy blending y’all!
